Article 135 of the Labor Law states that the working day is shortened by 1 hour before holidays.
The calculation of the number of working hours per month is based on the fact that one working day lasts 8 hours.

The calendar is compiled from Latvian legal acts as published on likumi.lv, the legislation website of the official publisher Latvijas Vēstnesis.
- Public holidays
- Par svētku, atceres un atzīmējamām dienām (opens in a new tab) The law on public holidays, remembrance days and days of celebration. It lists the public holidays and makes the next working day a day off when May 4 or November 18 falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
- Transferred working days
- Par darba dienu pārcelšanu 2025. gadā (opens in a new tab) Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 332 of April 30, 2024. It is binding on state-funded institutions with a five-day working week; for municipalities, companies and other organisations it is a recommendation, so check your own schedule with your employer.

- Darba likums (opens in a new tab) The Labor Law. Article 133 covers moving a working day, Article 135 the shorter working day before a public holiday.
