About the project
eKalendars is an online calendar with name days, holidays, and various events. The goal is to quickly and conveniently find information about a specific day, month, or year. Most often, people look for information about name days. There are also many holidays and events whose dates need to be calculated. We use different algorithms to calculate such dates, based on many years of experience.
Special attention should be given to the lunar calendar with phases and zodiac signs (based on the Moon’s position in the zodiac). Life on Earth is closely connected with lunar cycles, and many people follow them.
Data and sources
Name days
The Kalendārvārdu ekspertu komisija provides two lists of name days:
- a list of traditional name days,
- an extended list of name days.
We cannot automatically add new names to our lists, so if you did not find the name you are looking for, please contact us and we will update our lists.
Events and holidays
We add events of various types:
- We use information from the law "Par svētku, atceres un atzīmējamām dienām";
- We add various annual events that may be interesting to residents of Latvia and visitors;
- We add international holidays and commemorative dates.
