What is the Eurovision Song Contest?

The Eurovision Song Contest is an international music competition in which participants from member countries of the European Broadcasting Union compete each year.

Before the contest, each country selects its representative and song through a national selection process. While the number of participating countries may vary from year to year, the format remains the same - each country performs one original song.

After all performances, voting takes place. Viewers cannot vote for their own country. The final results are determined by a combination of professional jury votes and public voting.

The first Eurovision Song Contest was held in 1956 in Switzerland. Since then, it has launched the international careers of many artists, including ABBA and Céline Dion.
